American tourists flock to see the village green*

I found this on YouTube recently for use as a test blog on a site I was building but I’ll use it again as it’s so great. I think mainly because of Autumn Almanac, The Kinks are this time of year for me somehow. So here we are, and this was the post:

We’ll also include Days from The Village Green Preservation Society by The Kinks. Working Class dandies at that. Make Liam and Noel look like Bill and Ben.

I adore the Kinks. I know it is obvious, but “You Really Got Me” is so brash and mighty I could go mad at it’s sound (or something).

I was also listening to one of my all time faves The Small Faces on the Midland Mainline today. Two brilliantly English, lovable bands that too few people really respect.

Small Faces: I think they get respect, I just think they are becoming a little unloved. If you don’t stick at it, Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake is just plain bonkers to today’s ears. But you just can’t recreate that sheer, massive, grainy yet understated sound.
